Peperduur Albert Nzula-hospitaal in Trompsburg nou ‘net ’n kliniek’

Gautengse gesondheidsdepartement laat pasiënte weer honger ly

The Rands and sense of why the National Health Insurance may lead to better health budgets
About 200m from where I work in Rosebank, Johannesburg, there is a private clinic housing a general practitioner, a team of specialised surgeons, a rehabilitation centre, and state-of-the-art imaging and radiology technology.
If I needed medical attention, I could seek it quickly — so long as I was able to pay upfront.

From your toilet to your tap and back again:- The future of water
Water bursts from a brass spout with violent urgency. It foams through the tap angrily and on to a sprawling field. The stream fans out, forming veins that meet swampy arteries carved by footpaths in the grass.
After some time, a mother bearing a baby on her back approaches, swinging a plastic bucket. A bit later, three children holding empty Coke bottles wobble towards the tap across a wooden plank placed over the constantly churned earth.

Charlotte Maxeke Hospital faces a possible shut down
Johannesburg – The National Health Education and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) Gauteng deputy secretary Gracia Rikhotso on Wednesday rejected as false reports that Charlotte Maxeke Hospital would shut down because its members were going to embark on a strike.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) this week warned that the hospital faced a possible shut down with staff downing tools over non-payment of overtime and performance bonuses. They were also concerns about unfilled vacancies.
